This sign marks the location of where the Peoria & Hannibal Railroad company would have built a line back in the 1800's but they didn't have the funds so it was never built here. I think that company was bought out by Peoria, Pekin and Jacksonville Railroad company. The line was built elsewhere east instead. For a time Wabash ended up with this line and another before being purchased by the Chicago,Peoria and Saint Louis Railway. Nothing was ever built in Banner and I'm not sure why there's a sign but glad there is other wise would have never known about that. I think i remember the history right for this was told a long time ago.
